This is so damn shameful. I hope that these people weren’t actually Hopkins students. I don’t necessarily like Karl Rove either, but the structure of the event allowed a perfectly acceptable time to voice your own opinions. There was no need to ruin EVERYBODY’S experience. JHU bringing people like Rove in to speak is a great thing for the students and the Baltimore community but disrespectful assholes like this are going to ruin that.
Also, if anyone who was chanting about being the 99% actually went to Hopkins, I’m 99% sure you’re not the 99 fucking percent. Shut the fuck up. Please. You go to a pretentious upscale private university. The people who should be bitching are the people who’ve lost their job, or never got a job after getting out of the military and are fucking homeless and starving because of the economic situation. Not you kids who fucking eat an $8 uni mini sub 3 times a week and live in a dorm room with a bunch of other drunk ass college kids.
Actually, even if you don’t go to Hopkins and were involved in this…fuck you. Hopkins does so much for this city, and this type of stuff is disrespectful and just damn shameful. I can sympathize with the 99% bullshit to an extent, but stuff like this only hurts your case, you’re not accomplishing anything but looking like uneducated and jaded. Chanting “I’m the 99% and I’m a fucking tool” isn’t going to change anything. DO SOMETHING.
